Hayden Lake Country Club

Hayden Lake, Idaho

Once a favorite gathering place for the Coeur d’Alene Indian Tribe, the Club location on the shores of Hayden Lake was originally the site of the Bozanta Tavern (Bozanta is an Indian word meaning “meeting place by the lake”). J.C. Olmsted of the distinguished Brookline, Massachusetts Firm of landscape architects, (who designed New York’s Central park) was brought out to plan the grounds. The lakeside resort was designed in 1907 by Kirtland Cutter, the leading Northwest architect of the era. In 1927 ownership of the tavern was transferred from the Inland Empire Railroad to a group of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene businessmen. It then became known as The Hayden Lake Country Club, and today is regarded as one of the premier clubs in the Western United States.

FROM THE HAYDEN LAKE COUNTRY DIRECTOR OF GOLF:

Our Junior Golf Program, affectionately titled the “Mughunter’s,” began in the ‘40s. The competition’s name is derived from its original trophy, a simple tin coffee mug. Your family will find the three-week junior golf extravaganza as a truly rewarding experience to be had by all.

The Club offers a wide variety of ladies’ golf opportunities. The “18-Hole Ladies” (Women’s Golf Association) meets regularly and conducts weekly competitions and fun tournaments throughout the year. The “Hayden Niners” aim to take away the uncertainty of many beginner golfers. Once you are involved with a league, you will discover additional benefits. Guest days and a wide variety of invitationals are offered by the surrounding area.

Weekly choose ups, Men’s Day, monthly Stag Events, and team matches are offered throughout the year. The Inland Empire PGA offers weekly Pro-Ams where our golf professional staff takes members to compete at all the area golf courses. This is an excellent chance for all members to spend a leisurely round with the golf professionals and experience what the Inland Empire has to offer.

New in 2017, members are welcome to participate in the Indoor Leagues, utilizing our golf simulators and keeping your golf swing in shape throughout the fall/winter.

Friday Night Fights

Last but certainly not least, the world famous “Friday Night Fights”, where members sign up with friends and compete in sixsomes. Our executive chef prepares a wonderful themed dinner, which awaits you upon completion of your round. Over 300 people come out to play and have a terrific night.

As you can tell, my staff and I keep busy throughout the year as we try to offer many fun events for all members of your family. Let us know what we can do to make your days on the links more enjoyable.

See you on the tee.
